Fresh Eyes Cuba Publication
Subject: Editorial

192 pages, hardcover
The Fresh Eyes Cuba editorial is based on a 10 day immersive trip in Havana during the Fall of 2016. Students collaborated with Cuba's renowned Instituto Superior de Diseño (ISDi), creating pop-up installations in just one day. This publication translates the cultural exchange through visceral storytelling and student/instructor insights. In June of 2017, I traveled back to Cuba as a Student ambassador to launch the publication with Tracey Shiffman, Nik Hafermaas, Mariana Amatullo, Nicolas Ramirez, and Suyu Ren at the Ludwig Foundation.
This was a collaboration with Tracey Shiffman (Shiffman & Kohnke / Lead faculty at ArtCenter College of Design), and was created for DesignMatters at ArtCenter College of Design.
For the exhibition in Pasadena, we wrapped a side of the building in a large banner with a photo taken by Karlo Francisco (photo is also printed on newsprint and used as an outer wrap for the book). The banner was then salvaged and cut into individual squares, and adorned onto cover of every book, making each book unique.
